Myth of the One

Surround Sound

If I could
I would make
love to you

with Jim Morrison
on surround sound
His deep voice

serenading
the moves that
make you come

if I could I would
make love to you
on top of

the mountain
buried in snow
with pine trees

whispering
the echoes of
our coupling

if I could,
I would make love
to you with all the

passion and desire
I possess and You
would see

GOD!....

Your Truck

Yeah, I crashed your truck
On that empty desert road,
A Palo Verde tree, Or God,
Got me to wake up
You said,
“Let’s just push it back Over.”
I laughed insanely with the stars,
Slept at a friends house
Called my mother
who asked if I wanted
to come home.

I return to an uprooted childhood
Back to where I started
Slamming deli sandwiches
On one thousand dollar
lunch hours for doctors
and lawyers who have no idea
how hard I work for that
Six-seventy-five per hour....

Professional Casual Sex

Doing what we do

What is it that we do? When you come over
and take me into passion.
What is it called that we aren’t
eating each other’s lives up?
You’re not my “Girlfriend.”
We don’t do “girlfriend” things.
A professional friendship
with benefits on both sides
and casual sex on the side-once in a while.
Just enough to keep me guessing.
Just enough to keep me smiling
But it doesn’t make you smile, and that’s what hurts.
I know you find pleasure in me, then the next day,
when life is ignored, a question, why?
I don’t know. I don’t question pleasure and passion.
When it comes my way, I indulge
What is it that we do?....
